indoor climbing

We went indoor climbing this week again. I brought my camera along and took some pictures http://bilder.dopefish.de/spass/klettern/ Unfortunatly they turned out a bit grainy since I didn’t use a flash.

On the bright side I got to play around with the raw module from Photoshop CS3, and I must say it is simply great.  Normally I dont shoot photos in raw mode since I didn’t have a tool to extract them confortably. But after using CS3 I will definatly shoot in raw instead of jpg more often.

powered out

puh, I’m feeling kinda dead today. Thursday some work colleagues finally talked me into going indoor climbing with them. It was interresting and exhausting. Right now it’s definatly on the top of my list of sport activities to do during winter.
That brings us to Friday, even though my arms and hands were still tired from climbing, I went kart racing in the evening (work colleagues again, they are going to be my death one day). In case none of you have ever driven a kart before, there are some things you should know. No suspension whatsoever (say hello to that hard bump up there). Depending on how long you will be driving, steering will become an issue when your hands and arms start to tire (steering wheel is directly connected to thoose itty bitty tires -> yes, something as simple as steering can become quite laborious). Depending on the course centrifugal force may drop by to add to the fun. The course yesterday was one strainght, a bridge, two tunnels and the rest curves. Lots of bumps and getting rattled around in the kart. Anyway I ended up 4th place, just 11 sec. behind the 3rd. Seems I need to loose some weight before the next race.

Just about every muscle above my waist is sore. My legs are fine thought, just tired 😉

Chocolate Chip Cookies

I found a new recipe for chocolate chip cookies and mixed in some of the ideas into the recipe I normally use, turned out pretty good.
They were a little dry so next time I’ll substitute the majority of the butter with sour creme and see if it turns out ok.
Cookies

But they look good 😉

Orange Box

Bought myself the Orange Box (Half Life Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Episode 2) and I must say I had a lot of fun yesterday. Playing Portal was a blast. I don’t want to reveal too much of the “story” but it was really well done, had you thinking around corners the whole time.

After I got done with Portal (haven’t tried any of the special challenges yet) I gave Team Fortress 2 a look. The graphics are simply “lol”, you have the feeling you just landed in a Pixar film. After playing all the classes i must say, if you have 3 or less players on each side, the Scout dominates most other classes. You often run into one-on-one situations where the sheer speed of the Scout gives you the upper hand (and I find the shotgun is a bit too powerful at range). I even managed to take down two “Heavy Weapons Guys” with the Scout. So that kinda makes the Scout my personal favorite, closely followed by the Engineer (which is a wuss without his turret). And yes, planting a turrent in the enemy base on the “2fort” map is still hilarious.

While plaing around with steam, I noticed that it has a webpage that shows the statistics of the user. http://steamcommunity.com/id/rschulze/ Nice.
